About The Author: Panruti Vallam Ramaswami Raju, born in Madras, India, was a talented writer and barrister. After pursuing higher education, he joined the Inner Temple in London in 1882, becoming a barrister in 1885. Financial struggles led him to write, and he published two collections of folktales, translated Shakespeare into Tamil, and taught Indian languages at prestigious universities. Returning to Madras, he earned a formidable reputation as a barrister and amassed considerable wealth. At his death in 1897, he left behind an unfinished lengthy Sanskrit and English poem titled Rajangala Mahodyanam: or, the Great Park of Rajangala.
